Birdsay — Good Vibes Lab

Last updated: October 3, 2026

1. Introduction

Birdsay is an educational English pronunciation game designed for children ages 2 to 8 — from age 2 with an adult, and on their own from about age 4 — developed by Good Vibes Lab (“GVL”, “we”).

We are committed to protecting children's privacy. This policy complies with the GDPR, COPPA and applicable regulations.

2. Data we collect

Birdsay collects only the strict minimum it needs to work, and none of this data can identify the child:

  • First name (optional): if entered by the parent or guardian, it is used only to generate personalized audio greetings. It can be left out or removed at any time in the settings.
  • Anonymous usage statistics: aggregated events (completed sessions, screens viewed), with no advertising identifier or personal data.
  • Subscription history: managed by RevenueCat with an anonymous identifier.
  • Diagnostic data: technical crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) that let us detect and fix errors in the app. They contain neither the child's first name nor any personal identifier, and are never used for advertising or tracking.

What we never collect: Birdsay does not record or store the child's voice — no audio file is saved, either on the device or on our servers (see section 3 for how speech recognition works). Nor do we use advertising identifiers (disabled at the system level), location tracking, email addresses or contact data.

3. Microphone and speech recognition

The microphone is needed to assess the child's pronunciation. Birdsay never records or stores this audio.

The sound is sent in real time to the operating system's speech recognition service — Apple on iOS, Google on Android — which returns only the recognized text to us. Depending on the device, the language and the system settings, this recognition may take place on the device itself or on Apple's or Google's servers, under their respective privacy policies. We receive only the text, never the audio, and we do not keep it.

4. Data stored locally

Game progress (stars, stickers, scores) is stored locally on the device with Hive. It is not synced with any server.

5. Subscriptions

Premium content is managed by the app store (App Store / Google Play) and RevenueCat. GVL has no access to any payment data.

6. Third-party services

The following services process data on our behalf, as processors:

  • Firebase Analytics (Google): anonymous usage statistics, with no advertising identifier or personal data
  • Firebase Crashlytics (Google): technical crash reports, with no user identifier or personal data
  • RevenueCat: subscription management through an anonymous identifier
  • ElevenLabs: generation of the audio for personalized greetings from the first name. Only the first name is sent, without any device or user identifier: the generated audio is kept in a shared cache indexed by first name, so it is impossible to link a first name to a particular child or installation.
  • Operating system speech recognition (Apple / Google): transcribes what the child says in real time. Depending on the device and the language, the audio may be processed on the device or on Apple's or Google's servers — see section 3.

7. Parental control

Access to the settings is protected by a math check (Parent Gate) to keep children from changing the settings.

8. Advertising

Birdsay contains no advertising.

9. Data deletion

You can ask at any time for all data related to your use of Birdsay to be deleted. Instructions are available at goodvibeslab.app/habla/en/delete-data, or write to us at contact@goodvibeslab.app. We process requests within 30 days at most.

10. Changes to this policy

Updates will be posted on this page with the revised date.
